Escama
Escama - fish scales in Portuguese is a partnership between Escama and two womens cooperatives, Cia do Lacre and 100 Dimenso, located in Bras?lia, Brazil. Escama, based in San Francisco, leads product development, sales and marketing, while Cia do Lacre and 100 Dimenso carry out all aspects of production. They are Brazilians and Americans of diverse backgrounds but together they have found an outlet for their creativity. The bags are made by hand and not by machine, they're made of recycled aluminum and their endeavors are positively impacting the economically depressed communities where the bags are made.
