Xhenoga
Xhenoga was conceptualised from a blend of emotions, frustrations, fears, dreams and desires. Jeanette Gibson, fine art graduate, journalist and founder, returned from the east during the latter half of 2002. Fruitless job hunting exercises had her return to her passion for art. Amongst not being able to secure employment, not having any money, wanting to make a difference and needing to utilise her creativity, a tragic life experience left the founder searching for answers, healing and self empowerment. Gibson wanted to make a difference to the lives of women who are learning to survive the emotional trauma of physical abuse and especially those that are HIV positive. Since November 2002 Xhenoga has become a sustainable business with a family foundation and a social conscience that empowers women through art. It fosters a wholesome, familial environment in which women are inspired to self actualisation through the development of inherent talent.
