Queen Bee
Rebecca Pearcy grew up getting crafty with her artist Mom. When she was 13, she learned how to read a pattern and use a sewing machine and a passionate seamstress was born. In high school, she started sewing and selling one-of-a-kind clothing, made from vintage and thrift store fabric. She moved out west to Olympia, WA in 1991 to attend Evergreen, and continued her wacky clothing and alterations business.
In 1995, she designed a vinyl wallet for myself, which is now called the Wonder Wallet--that was the beginning of Queen Bee. She xeroxed a very crude, but cute mail order catalog that she sent out to a handful of people. She began selling wholesale to a couple boutiques, and now sells to stores in most states in the country, as well as overseas. What began as a little cut-and-paste catalog enterprise, has blossomed into a retail and wholesale endevour that sells unique, hand made accessories to folks worldwide.
Redd joined the business in year 2000 and volunteered to help with the burgeoning business for a few hours a week. Now, she and Rebecca run the show together as business partners, with lots of help from five great employees?three sewers, a production assistant, and a shipping & customer service maven. They take pride in sewing and finishing, in house, all the products that they sell--that is rare these days! They put a tremendous amount of time, care, and creativity into everything they make and do.
